Turn Your Rocks Into Pillars

Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land. For I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.” Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I did not know it. And he was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven.” So early in the morning Jacob took the stone that he had put under his head and set it up for a pillar and poured oil on the top of it.
— Genesis 28:15-18 (ESV)

Jacob was sleeping on rocks when God told him that the land he rested on would be given to him and his seed. He dreamt of many GREAT things, but still...he was sleeping on a sack of rocks. This story felt familiar to me. God has given me some extraordinary ideas in the midst of ordinary circumstances. The reality, pain, disappointment, uncertainty and lack of clarity during the present can make God's promises seem impossible. And the fear that God won't do what He promised will play on your emotions.

God is with you  -- wherever you are. Your desert. Your dry place. Don't let your eyes fool you and make you think that just because times are tough, He's left or forgotten you or what He promised. He stays until His work is done!

He will carry you through every place and each valley to the height of the purpose He has for you. Don't resent where you are--no it's not a throne, but perhaps a footstool. Sometimes you have to pull a Jacob and turn your sack of rocks into pillars for the success you know will come.
