Interrogate Your Fear

Fear is quite intangible, but sometimes you have to treat that thing. Ignoring it does not work for me. In fact, I think by not acknowledging it (like any a typical human being desperate for attention) sometimes it feels like it has to do more to make itself valid. So I interrogate the crap out of it.

As crazy as it sounds, I have an internal conversation with my fear.

I can’t do that.

Why not?

Well, I don’t know how to do it.

Is there a way to learn how to do it?

I don’t know.

Have you Googled it?

I don’t care.

Is there someone you can ask? Somebody’s done this (and everything else) before.

What if I fail?

What if you fail?

Well, people will make fun of me.

Who? That person you don’t even like? Or someone not a priority in your life.

Yep, she/he can’t wait to see me fail.

Did they say that? Will your Mama or God make fun of you?

Probably not, but I’ll still feel like a loser.

Have you ever felt like a loser before?

So, you know how to get over that?

I guess.

No, you went from feeling like a loser, to being okay and moving on with your life, right?

Do you acknowledge or ignore fear?
